This past weekend saw our girls stepping out onto the stage at their first National Grades. Our first round on Saturday was National 5 where Indie, Maiya and Ella took to the arena. Nerves were high, but excitement higher as the girls began their first rotation. After some beautiful performances on floor that were highly praised, three stuck beam routines and poise on each piece, the girls finished their day with fantastic results.  Ella took the 6th place ribbon, Maiya the 5th and Indie was our South East All-round winner in 1st! A huge well done girls.

Our second round on the Saturday saw Skye into the arena for her National 2 competition. Starting on floor with a new routine, Skye started her rotation confidently. A less than ideal bar routine threw a spanner in the works but Skye rallied incredibly well and finished her following routines with grit, an incredible range score and strong vaults saw Skye finish in the 6th place spot. We hope you are hugely proud of yourself Skye, well done!

The next day we started our competition with the National 4 girls Zofia, Lillian and Evie. The girls were nervous to enter the arena for their first competition of the year and starting on beam didn’t help ease the nerves. That being said, the girls stepped up to the plate and performed another three stuck beam routines to begin their competition on a strong note. Moving through their routines the girls stayed positive and held their routines to a high standard, finishing their day with some fantastic results. 8th place for Zofia, 6th for Evie and an amazing 3rd for Lillian! A huge well done girls.

The last round of the competition was Livvi and Lottie’s opportunity to enter the arena for their National 3 round. Starting on bars Lottie performed a beautiful routine beginning her competition perfectly, Livvi unfortunately took an early fall, but rallied her emotions quickly and moved to the next piece focused. As the competition progressed it was clear to see the that Lottie and Livvi were holding themselves to high standard as the routines were beautifully performed and well received. Another unfortunate fall on beam set Livvi back another mark, but Lottie stayed cool and managed another full beam set for Pegasus. After some of the top scoring vaults of the day, Livvi walked away with her first National ribbon in 6th place, Lottie finished her day as All-Around champion, all-around highest scorer across National 3, and a place on the South East team at the upcoming National finals! Congratulations girls you should be extremely proud.

A huge congratulations to the coaches and gymnasts for such a successful start to the 2023 competition season and a huge thank you to the parents and families who came to support the team on each day.
