On the evening of 26th September 2026, South East Gymnastics held their biannual awards evening at Reigate Golf Club.  Six members of Pegasus had been nominated for an award and four of those were treated to an evening of celebration and delight with a drinks reception and three course meal.

The first of the nominees in the younger categories were announced and Leo Trandaburu proudly received his award for recognition in the under 16 gymnast category. 12-year-old Leo was always destined to be a gymnast with parents Ionut & Jenn, but has worked hard to make his own way in the sport. His most recent achievement is winning a bronze medal on high bar at the English Championships ’24

Amanda Cook was recognised in the Coach under 21 category. Amanda’s pathway at Pegasus has been from a national level WAG gymnast to a highly competent Level 2 coach working across 2 disciplines where she has flourished and is highly regarded by all who work with her.

Kathleen Whitten was recognised in the Coach 21 + category. Kathleen has worked hard as Head of Floor and Vault to develop a strong squad of gymnasts at all levels who regularly achieve competition success. She has also mentored young coaches to support a strong future within the squad and is a lead coach in Kindergym, encouraging the next generation of gymnasts.

Dawn Cox, Claire Griffiths and Tony Hall all received Long Service Awards.

Claire started her volunteering journey with Pegasus when her daughters joined the Club as youngsters. They are now adults and doing different things but Claire has remained with the Club having worked through a number of different roles and is now Chair of the Pegasus Board. Her work with the Friends of Pegasus over many years managing social and fund-raising events has been a huge support, as has her skills in IT & digital marketing, managing club merchandise and supporting the facility demands. We are grateful for all her years of support.

Dawn has supported the Club for many years from when her twin sons joined, becoming squad gymnasts, with Euan still competing national and internationally in MAG. Despite her very busy life as a teacher and key figure within Kent Netball, Dawn has been a major support as Club Secretary and via the Friends of Pegasus. Her other roles include a massive task with the Club member database, GDPR, the Club’s TVs, and is known as the queen of signage! Her contribution to Pegasus is highly valued.

Tony has been part of the Pegasus family since son James started in the sport, supporting him in his journey at international level, representing GB at European, World, Commonwealth and Olympic Games. Some 20 years later, Tony remains a key figure within the Club having supported it in various ways as a Board member, managing building maintenance over the years at Pegasus’s 2 dedicated facilities, and responsibility for security at the Club via installation of CCTV. His quiet, supportive manner, working behind the scenes has been invaluable to the Club who remain very grateful for his loyal service.
