Members of the Men’s squad competed at the Pegasus Open with huge success.
Mark competed in the Under 8 category. Mark had a confident start to the competition and continued to perform strongly until the end! A couple of new skills within his routines and improved performances, Mark, once again, demonstrated his competitive nature. A huge, flighted vault set Mark up for the gold vault medal, 10 beautifully executed circles for silver on pommel and 3rd place overall!
Jasper, Whittaker and Ezra demonstrated some great routines in the Under 9 category. Jasper circled his way to success on Pommel with a stunning routine with great tempo to take silver, and bronze on Vault with a clean dynamic Handspring along with clean routines on all pieces, and confidence, finishing in 3rd place overall. Ezra finished in 2nd place overall demonstrating flare on floor with grace and elegance, collecting a silver, strength on rings, and great shapes on P.Bar and High Bar to secure a further 3 golds! Teammate Whittaker turned up the heat in the arena with great composure and style. Securing 4 gold medals and a silver, finishing in 1st place overall having performed a stylish floor routine, a clean pommel routine and swung a great high bar routine.
Erik, Max, Luke and Kian competed in the Under 9 age group. Erik nailed his front somersault on floor, performed a Handspring vault with beautiful straight legs and showed his strength on rings to finish in 17th place overall. Max finished in 15th place overall, successfully swinging a pommel routine with 10 circles, and cheekily performing forward long swings instead of backwards on the high bar! Kian performed a new skill in his floor routine, a straight front somersault, swung to handstand on the P.Bars, and demonstrated great shapes on the pommel to finish in 6th place overall. Luke finished in 3rd place overall having performed 6 clean routines and looking confident. A well flighted Handspring with a clean landing secured silver on vault and a clean routine on the Rings secured bronze for this piece aswell!
In the Under 12 age group Leo, Ben and Brodie competed extremely well. Ben performed a high flighted Tsukahara vault to take Vault gold and swung a clean bar routine achieving silver along with 3rd place overall. Brodie swung his way to a successful gold on P.Bar demonstrating good shapes and clean lines along with a clean vault to take bronze. Brodie finished in 2nd place overall having performed some great routines. Teammate Leo was crowned the Under 12 champion, along with gold medals on Floor, Pommel, Rings and H.Bar. Having had an unfortunate fall on Vault, Leo competed classy routines with great confidence.
Ethan competed in the Under 14 category. Ethan competed a new vault successfully in the arena for the first time to secure 3rd place on Vault! A stylish Floor routine and a High Bar routine that swung until the end he secured a further 2 bronze medals. Along with clean routines and confident performances Ethan finished in 2nd place overall!
So many huge successes for our boys lead to Pegasus wining the Peter Griffin Cup, a very prestigious award to win.
Not all wins come in the shape or form of a trophy or a medal, many of the boys above competed new skills or earned personal best scores and had a great time competing once again. Congratulations to all the boys and their coaches.
