Squads
The squads are designed for more able members who wish to take part in competitions.
Gymnastics is a complex sport, which requires careful development and commitment.
Squad members and their families need to realise that entry into a squad demands mental commitment and the development of self-discipline to facilitate a high level of body preparation and skill acquisition.
Floor & Vault Squad - Boys and Girls
A highly successful group enabling more gymnasts to achieve high quality on a limited range of equipment. Members perform in Club, County and Regional Floor & Vault competitions. The activities have recently been extended to include festival participation. They perfromed during the medal ceremony of the Kent School Games Key Steps final 2010.
Artistic Squad - Boys and Girls
Work on full Olympic apparatus enabling the most able to perform at national level. Club members achieve national, regional and county selection. Training times vary according to the squad and the member’s age and ability.
Talent Identification
Coaches will be observing club members born in 2004 & 2005 during September and October to identfy those with a special aptitude for the sport. Children may also be indentified in school through workshops organised with the Ashford and Mid Kent School Sports Partnership or via the satellite clubs. Children selected in the first phase will be invited to attend special sessions for further activities before the selected group is established to start training after half term.
