Friends of Pegasus

The friends organisation was formed to assist, support and enhance the opportunities within the club. Its role is varied and will continue to evolve as the club grows.

Anyone with an interest in the club is very welcome to join the friends and become actively involved with the many facets of the club.

Volunteers with a significant contact time with gymnasts will be required to provide references and an enhanced CRB disclosure.

The Friends

  • Provide a network of communication
  • Assist at club functions and events
  • Assist with regular maintenance
  • Assist with improvement projects
  • Assist with administrative activity on a one off or regular basis
  • Assist with gymnastics activities e.g. general classes, holiday activities
  • Identify possible sources of sponsorship
  • Organise fund raising activities

Continued Volunteer Support is Essential

  • Despite its professional image and reputation the club operates on a very tight budget and is only viable due to the considerable input of volunteers.
  • This facility exists thanks to thousands of voluntary hours worked and many years fundraising.
  • Coaches regularly work many more than their contracted hours, often for substantially less than the market rate.
  • Every contribution however small is valued and relieves the pressure on coaches - particularly since this gives them more time to coach your children.
  • The strength of parental support is also a clear indication to your children and the coaches that you value what is done within the club.
  • Voluntary commitment increases our chances of accessing grants.

Volunteer Policy

The club supports the contribution of volunteeers by funding essential training, travel and approved expenses.
